Is this compatible with Server 2012 r2?

Yes, it is. Currently using one in a Ubuntu server and one in a Windows Server 2012 r2 server. Both working great.

I've had one for a couple of years without issue. It's not enterprise gear, but it's been reliable.
Woks fine under linux, RTL8111/8168B
Been in constant, low demand use.

Question 4

Does this card have a configurable hardware (MAC) address? My PC's current Intel-based Ethernet card can't do that. I think it needs to have that option in the Advanced tab under the Device Manager... Thanks.

Accepted Answer

There is an option to set the Network Address in the Advanced options under Device Manager, but I never had to use it, so I can't tell you if it works 100%.

Question 5

I should receive this today. I need to replace the on-board one because my Inspiron was hit by lightning. On board card still works but since strike it takes forever to load a page as I read :"Resolving Host". Anyway, my question is this,"do I need to disable the old one either in Device Manager, bios or both?

I had an older Inspiron the the port would drop connection from time to time or lag out. When I installed this in the machine running windows 7 I didn't have to disable anything. Just install the software and plug in my Ethernet cable
