Happy Singles Day!

For those out there who are on their own, Singles Day, or Guanggun Jie as it’s said in China, is a holiday focused on the individual. The holiday season typically focuses on couples and families: buy jewelry for her, get a new car for him, or celebrate your love in Hawaii, Vail or Miami. You get the idea. There are no campaigns out there saying, “Treat yourself to a new cool gaming laptop.” No, the holidays are all about giving to others. What is wrong with celebrating the fact you are single? Nothing at all.

November 11 (11/11) seems to leap out of the calendar itself as a day to celebrate singles. And, in China, that is exactly what happened with Singles Day now being one of the busiest holidays of the year there. Now, Newegg is offering savings for everyone to enjoy!  For more information click here.

When It All Started

Singles Day is a fairly young holiday, having only been around since the ‘90s. It all started in Nanjing University back in 1993 and became a yearly tradition. While those original students have graduated and moved on, the day continues to grow in popularity.

A Holiday for You

While there’s Father’s Day or Mother’s Day and even a national Pet Day, there’s only one day to really focusing on rewarding yourself, Singles Day. It’s the best day to take yourself out to dinner or buy the piece of hardware you have been holding back on for so long. Go ahead and reward yourself, you deserve it.

It’s Big for Businesses Too

Singles Day has become one of the fastest growing holidays. In some countries it’s already even surpassing Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales combined. It’s become a holiday to watch out for to get some of the last deals of the year.
