Blizzard’s ultra-addictive free-to-play digital card game Hearthstone is more popular than ever, and although the most common ways to play involve ranked matches and drafting tournaments against randomly-selected online opponents, Blizzard has offered “Fireside Gatherings” as a friendlier and more social alternative.
In Fireside Gatherings, Hearthstone fans gather together in real life (crazy, right?) to play friendly matches against in-person opponents using their respective devices, exchange tips and tricks, and meet new pals who share a love of orcs, gnomes, and murlocs. You earn a custom card back just for participating in a Gathering, so even if you don’t win you won’t walk away empty-handed.
Fireside Gatherings have recently come to Newegg’s Los Angeles Hybrid Center, with a new recurring event filled with fun, friends, and fabulous prizes. Players compete in Hearthstone matches on their devices of choice, whether a laptop, tablet, or phone, and winning matches earns players more raffle tickets and a better chance to win that week’s prizes. Recent winners have even walked away with brand new tablets from iRULU. Best of all, the event is totally free and open to anyone who is interested.
