My internship at Newegg turned into such a great experience, and it's a big part of why I decided to come back part-time this fall. From the start, it was clear they actually cared about us as interns, not just as extra hands. They took us on a warehouse tour to show us how everything actually worked behind the scenes, and they even let us use the gaming room, which sounds small but honestly made the place feel less corporate and more like somewhere people actually wanted to be. It didn't take long before I was trusted with real, hands-on work that actually mattered too. I even got the chance to build and pitch an idea in an internal Shark Tank-style competition in front of C-level execs and mentors, which was such a surreal experience for a sophomore in college. Getting that kind of opportunity, and having it actually be taken seriously by senior leadership, made me realize how much Newegg values fresh ideas no matter where they come from.

What really made the experience though, was the people. Everyone around me was so willing to help, answer questions, and just talk things through, even when they had a million other things going on. It never felt intimidating to ask something or admit I didn't know how to do something yet. There was this really nice balance of being supported but also being challenged, like people believed I could figure things out but were also right there if I needed help. If you're thinking about applying, this is a great place to intern at. You'll get thrown into real work, you'll learn a ton, and you'll be surrounded by people who actually want to see you succeed. I think finding that combo is very rare, and it's a big reason why I wanted to stick around.

Eddie Wang
Focus: AI/Tech

This summer, my internship at Newegg gave me invaluable hands-on experience working on real, production-level projects. Over six weeks, I had the opportunity to collaborate across teams — engineering, UI/UX, product, data, and even C-level leadership — on high-impact initiatives that shaped how I think about building products at scale.

My primary project was the redesign of Newegg's PC Builder tool. Despite having limited prior front-end and UI/UX design experience, I worked closely with the design team to develop a concept that combined AI-generated previews with an interactive 3D component explorer. Alongside this, I contributed to several smaller projects that pushed me to grow both technically and strategically. One of the highlights of my internship was the final presentation, where I pitched ideas for improving the company's direction — an experience that ultimately led to a return offer to continue working part-time on this project. Throughout the program, I learned more than I could have in a classroom setting, and I believe it's an excellent launching point for anyone looking to jump-start their career in tech!

Ziyang Liu
Focus: AI/Tech

My summer internship at Newegg was a rewarding opportunity to apply my technical knowledge to real business challenges. I worked on data-driven solutions that integrated information from multiple e-commerce marketplaces, transformed it into clear visualizations, and used AI to generate actionable insights for business teams. I also contributed to system modernization initiatives and explored new ideas for improving the online shopping experience.

I feel very fortunate and honored to have worked alongside the MIS team, whose guidance and support made this experience both meaningful and enjoyable. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across UI/UX, Marketing, and business teams, which helped me understand how different perspectives come together to turn technical ideas into practical solutions. I am truly grateful to everyone who supported me throughout this journey.

Khiet Huynh
Focus: AI Integration

Through NSIP, I gained valuable technical and professional skills. I first contributed to an AI-powered system that extracts fields from customer files and generates tabular product quotes. Through this, I learned the importance of collaboration and clear communication within a team.

My main project was an AI tariff classification tool that estimates total tariff rates for products imported to the US, which allowed me to apply my current skills while learning new technologies, such as Vue.js and RAG models. I also learned about the real-world process of developing, testing, receiving feedback, and refining the project through meeting with my mentor and Newegg employees. Furthermore, since I worked with another intern on the project, I learned how to efficiently communicate my progress and divide responsibilities.

Outside of the projects, another part of the program I really enjoyed was the mentorship and support from my mentor, teammate, colleagues, and other interns who encouraged me to ask questions and take initiative. NSIP not only strengthened my path toward software engineering through real-world projects, but also showed me that the field is about more than coding: it’s about teamwork, impact, and continuous learning. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and would recommend NSIP to other students!

Ethan Ngo
Focus: AI Integration

This internship was a valuable first step in my professional journey. I gained insight into the operational side of a global tech team and had the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from experienced engineers.

One of my key projects involved integrating AI into a classification system—a challenging task given my limited background in the area. With mentorship and guidance, I learned to approach problems with a user-first mindset and adapt quickly to new technologies.

Beyond technical skills, I also improved my communication and presentation abilities, learning the importance of clarity and confidence when sharing my work. This experience has deepened my interest in AI and better prepared me for future roles in tech.

Yuhan (Wendy) Shi

My experience at Newegg this summer was nothing short of life-changing. I worked on an SEO optimization project during my time here, refreshing the articles on our Newegg Insider page and learning the power of good content. Through this opportunity, I was able to develop stronger writing skills and a better eye for detail. I was also able to gain valuable industry insight and connect with so many professionals, including my amazing mentor! Working at Newegg over the summer helped kickstart my career to where I am today. Being an intern for the IT department, I was able to gain valuable knowledge and skills when it came to working certain equipment, software, multitasking, and communicating with many departments in the workplace. One of my favorite moments during the internship was where I got to collaborate with the other interns in building a PC for a back to school ad, and it was those hand on activities that gave me a chance to feel immersed with the kind of work that was being done. It’s thanks to Newegg that I was able to strengthen my skills further, which resulted in me being able to work with big companies such as Edison and Fluor.

Josephine Chow
Focus: Marketing and Media

Being a marketing intern at Newegg, I gained important skills I can apply outside the working industry. At UC Berkeley, I gained many leadership roles due to my experience of working with and aiming to increase market size. The majority of my time in this program was creating posts for Newegg's Instagram and Facebook accounts, answering inquiries from direct messages, and working with Photoshop to make visually appealing advertisements. Additionally, during my time in NSIP, I got the chance to see an overview of the behind-the-scenes in Newegg on social media platforms, product photography for their site, and Studio production. I remember making Youtube videos and TikToks with the Studio production team and brainstorming content ideas. I highly recommend this program to every high school student looking to explore and experience real corporate jobs while getting mentored and looked after, as NSIP makes sure to personalize the program to you so that you can get the most out of it.

Focus: SEO/SEM, Marketing, and Finance

Having the opportunity to work with multiple teams at Newegg including SEO/SEM, marketing, and finance, I have gained valuable business skills and established meaningful connections with my peers and professionals at the firm. Some projects that I have worked on include using Ahrefs for keyword optimization, link building in the context of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies, and employing Excel and PitchBook Data Software to conduct analyses of Newegg's market competitors, focusing on quarterly earnings, financial statistics, and ratios. Overall, I had a wonderful learning experience at Newegg, and I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who has mentored and supported me throughout this journey.

I was pleased to take part in Newegg’s first Student Internship Program and was assigned to their media team. Working alongside industry professionals and being exposed to the dynamic world of e-commerce and technology, I had the opportunity to actively contribute to various media campaigns and projects. Some of our vendors include Microsoft, Intel, MSI and many more well-known names in the tech industry. This hands-on involvement enabled me to develop a keen understanding of marketing strategies, content creation, and effective communication. The internship program emphasized the importance of adaptability and problem-solving, as I met real-world challenges and learned to navigate them with agility and innovation. Overall, the Newegg internship program has equipped me with practical skills that I use daily.

I had the privilege of participating in a summer internship program at a leading technology firm in the field of computer engineering. During my internship, I worked on various projects related to software development, database management, and cybersecurity. Throughout the program, I was able to gain invaluable hands-on experience and deepen my understanding of the industry. I learned how to code in different programming languages, develop and maintain databases, and design and implement cybersecurity measures to protect critical systems.

Working with the search engine marketing department at Newegg exposed me to the strategy behind marketing and taught me how to develop strategies to acquire customers. In addition to the technical skills I gained from working with google analytics and ads, I was also able to enhance my communication and critical thinking skills, which has already helped me after the internship. I am forever grateful to have been given the opportunity to join this program.

Abhinav Dinesh
Focus: SEM & Social Media

During my Newegg internship, I worked on various projects with the SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and Social Media Marketing teams.

With the SEM team, I researched key search terms and learned about data-driven practices through Google Analytics, discovering how to boost engagement and click-through rates.

The Social Media Marketing team taught me about social media strategy and analytics, and I engaged in activities like website launches and content creation. Additionally, I had the opportunity to meet new people, learn how to build a Gaming PC, and present to C-level executives an innovative idea for Newegg.

To capitalize on the emerging AR/VR metaverse space at the time, my idea was to design a 3D AR/VR home mockup, used as a virtual walk-around for customers to view Newegg products, and I won the competition with this idea, earning me recognition and a custom Gaming PC.

Overall, the culmination of these unforgettable moments offered me valuable business skills and new connections, and compared to when I started the Newegg internship, I felt more knowledgeable and confident in myself going into future career opportunities.

I had a great time at Newegg's internship program last summer. I was in the creative design department, so I got the pleasure of learning how to create engaging designs to promote the company. Not only did I get to work with and learn from some incredible people, but I also had a great time interacting with the other interns and learning how to build a pc together.

During my time here at the program, I was able to meet many new people and mentors who taught me skills that I otherwise would not have been able to utilize to my full capacity. The employees here were very helpful and they all encouraged me to strive for the best. I was introduced to so many new ideas and experiences, and it truly made my summer full of fun surprises. I didn't know what to expect at first, but they made me feel welcomed and encouraged me to explore my interests. My time here was an absolute blast and I encourage anyone who's interested in tech or business to apply!

Patrick Lagura
Focus: Creative Design

My time at the Newegg internship last year was an amazing experience for me since it was my first time being able to see what it is like to be in a working environment. I was in the Creative Design department; the people in that department are amazing people and it was interesting to get their point of views on how they approach this field. It was good to learn on how to make good use of logos, online art, and good online advertising for marketing purposes. Creative/Graphic Design is a way to portray the use of colors, images, and personal ideas to come up with designs that are something significant that helps make things stand out to customers in a business setting. If you are someone who hones artistic skills along with a creative mindset on how to design things from the top of your head, this is the department that can help you improve on your abilities and be able to use it for future opportunities.

On top of that, I got to meet my co-internee and the other interns from the other departments, and I can say that they are awesome people. Learning from their experiences from their fields was fun, as well for constructing the PC as a whole group.

Rachel Cheung
Focus: Product Recommendation

My time at Newegg was one of the best learning experiences I had. I met amazing people during my time here and gained so much insight into both industry work and data science itself.

While I was here I was assigned to an E-Commerce product recommendation project and did research to find an implementation that involved accuracy and machine learning. It was an amazing opportunity to use what I learned in school for a real world application. My co-interns here were also some of the best people I encountered this summer and I had a great time with them.

In addition, my mentors were amazing and guided me throughout the process of my project. Throughout my summer I learned how to work through an assignment that simulated what it would be like to work in the data science industry and it introduced me to so many new AI possibilities.

My name is Sung Yat (Martin) Chau, and I had the privilege of being a marketing intern in the Newegg Summer Internship Program, guided by my mentor Ivan. I want to express my gratitude for the incredible opportunity to be a part of this program.

During my time at Newegg, I gained valuable insights into the fast-paced world of e-commerce marketing. Working closely with the team allowed me to deepen my understanding of digital marketing strategies, customer engagement, and brand management. The hands-on experience I received, especially under Ivan's mentorship, was instrumental in helping me grow both professionally and personally.

One aspect of the program that stood out to me was the collaborative environment. The exchange of ideas and creativity within the marketing team was inspiring, and it encouraged me to think critically and innovate. Additionally, the support from the entire Newegg community, including William and the media team, made my experience even more enriching. The video they produced was outstanding and truly captured the essence of our work.

As for feedback, I believe that future interns would benefit from more cross-departmental interactions. This would provide a broader understanding of how different teams contribute to Newegg's success. Also, offering more opportunities for interns to lead small projects could further enhance the learning experience.

Focus: Machine Learning & Data Analysis

Over the summer at Newegg, I worked on predicting customer intent with AI using customer activities on the Newegg website. Through working with fellow interns, experienced developers, and my mentor, I learned brand new concepts about machine learning and data analysis.

I also gained experience on collaborating with other employees effectively on a specific project. I am thankful to be given this opportunity, as this internship has taught me both technical and interpersonal skills that are extremely valuable to me as I pursue my future goals and endeavors.
