Does the GPS device included work with Windows 8.1 x64? More specifically, does the GPS device work as a location provider for apps?

Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013 with GPS Locator works well with Windows 8, but only in the old desktop mode because it does not have slide features, so a mouse of other pointing device is a must. I do not know what apps you would refer to since the program is self contained. It will place places of interest, hotels, etc. on the map if you wish, but alas that is always someone's choice of what to include/exclude. The only downside I have found is that it does not show trails, but thing it is called "streets.."
